Here Are Some Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pilate-ology Pilates?
Pilates is the low-impact exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates. Pilates focuses on core development and stability as the foundation of all movement. It emphasizes a mind-body connection through concentration, control, and precision. At Pilate-ology our foundation is the traditional method but we take it up a notch; emphasizing a more contemporary style. Pilates will always provide a well-rounded, challenging, full-body workout. Creating a stronger you!
How often should I practice Pilates?
Practicing twice a week helps you maintain strength and balance, while three or more times per week will bring noticeable changes in your body. Pilates is gentle enough for daily practice, but consistency — not intensity — is the real key to results.
I’m New to Pilates…Can I take any class?
We recommend starting with our Back to Basics class or a Private Session. Jumping into an advanced class too soon can disrupt the flow and increase your risk of injury. If you’re managing chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or are pre/post-natal, a Private Session is required before joining group classes. If you are pregnant and new to Pilates, you must schedule a private session before joining group classes.
How Do I Schedule Group Classes?
All group classes are booked online through our scheduling portal either through the schedule tab on the website or via the portal by clicking here. (the ‘here’ should be highlighted and link to the same place the Create Account button does). You’ll need to create an account and prepay for all classes and services. Please note we do not accept reservations or cancellations via phone, email, or text, and we do not take walk-ins. If a class is full, you may join the waitlist. Please see Waitlist FAQ for details.
How far in advance can I book classes?
Our schedule opens 30-days in advance. Those with Group Class Packages can book on a rolling 30-day calendar until you are out of classes or they expire. Group class packages are valid for 6-months unless indicated.
Monthly Auto-Pay Memberships book the allotted number of classes on a rolling 30-day calendar but must wait for their processing date to book. Once your payment processes you may continue booking. No classes may be booked un-paid ahead of your processing date. Unused Monthly Auto-Pay classes do not roll over.
6-Month Auto Renew Memberships receive all 6 months of classes in their account to book until used up. These memberships book on a rolling 30-day calendar but must wait for their processing date to book. Once your payment processes you may continue booking. This occurs every 6 months. No classes may be booked un-paid ahead of your processing date. Un-used classes do not roll over.
How Do I Prepare for Class?
Grippy socks are required for all classes and sessions and are available for purchase at Pilate-ology. Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing — but please avoid short shorts, zippers, or jewelry, as they can damage equipment. If damage occurs, you may be responsible for repair or replacement. Don’t forget your water bottle to stay hydrated! We have a filtered water dispenser for your convenience.
What is the Waitlist and how does it work?
When a class is full, you will see a “Waitlist” button instead of a “Book” button. If someone cancels, the first person on the waitlist is automatically added to the class up to 12 hours before the class starts if you have class credits available in your account. This means you must have classes that are ‘un-scheduled’. If you have future classes scheduled but not used, the system will not see these as available. If you do not have the class available, you will be notified that you did not get in because you did not have classes available. The waitlist then automatically moves to the next person. You are responsible for any class you waitlist for and must remove yourself from the waitlist if you no longer wish to take the class. Once you are added to the class, you are responsible for the class per our usual policies. After being added to the class, you may receive more than one text or email asking you if you want to confirm or cancel. You do not need to confirm as you have already been added. However, if you want to cancel via text, you must respond to all texts and can only cancel early if it’s 12 hours before the class starts or it will be considered a late-cancel and all policies apply. If you respond to any texts more than 48-hours after receipt, you have missed your chance to cancel via text and are responsible for the class and all policies apply. Waitlisting is at your own risk. If you are unsure of the policy, please e-mail us for clarification.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
Our 12-hour online cancellation policy applies to all classes and private sessions. Cancellations must be made by the customer and on-line through your account. No cancellations will be accepted via e-mail or phone. Late cancellation/No Show for Group Classes, Intro Offer and Privates: Forfeit class/session. How do I cancel my Membership?
If you wish to cancel your membership, you MUST e-mail the studio no less than 7 days before your processing date. Please ignore the option to cancel on-line. This option does not work properly and your auto-pays will continue to process. The ONLY way to effectively cancel is to e-mail us directly (please add e-mail link to info@pilate-ology.com).
I’m traveling…can I put my Membership or Classes on hold?
Only monthly auto-pays and 6 month memberships can be placed on hold or ‘frozen’. Freezes are for a minimum of 1 month with a maximum of three freezes per year. Monthly auto-pays can only be frozen from process date to process date. 6 month memberships can be frozen at any point during the 6 months. You must notify the studio via e-mail 7 days prior to a processing date to request a freeze. You will not be able to book classes during a freeze.

I’m pregnant; is it safe to do Pilates?
Pilates is safe in pregnancy, but we ask that you consult with your doctor before continuing with your Pilates practice. If it is your first time at our studio , or haven’t attended in 90+ days, we highly suggest starting with a Private Session before joining group classes. Your instructor will assess your readiness and guide you through safe modifications. Regular clients who become pregnant can continue attending group classes but should schedule one private session per trimester to learn trimester-specific modifications. Admittance to class is at the discretion of the instructor. This is for your safety as well as the safety and continuity of the class as a whole. Please note that clients unaware of this policy may be unable to join class upon arrival, and the class will be forfeited. Those who are pregnant and have never taken Pilates are not permitted in a group class until they take a private session.
