Here Are Some Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pilate-ology Pilates?

Pilates is the low-impact exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates. Pilates focuses on core development and stability as the foundation of all movement. It emphasizes a mind-body connection through concentration, control, and precision. Pilates will always provide a well-rounded, challenging, full-body workout. Creating a stronger you!

Practicing twice a week helps you maintain strength and balance, while three or more times per week will bring noticeable changes in your body. Pilates is gentle enough for daily practice, but consistency — not intensity — is the real key to results.

We recommend starting with our Back to Basics class or a Private Session. Jumping into an advanced class too soon can disrupt the flow and increase your risk of injury. If you’re managing chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or are pre/post-natal, a Private Session is required before joining group classes. If you are pregnant and new to Pilates, you must schedule a private session before joining group classes.

All group classes are booked online through our schedule portal at Pilate-ology.com. You’ll need to create an account and prepay for all classes and services. Please note we do not accept reservations or cancellations via phone, email, or text, and we do not take walk-ins. If a class is full, you may join the waitlist. Please see Waitlist FAQ for details.

To request a Private or Duet Session, click here to request an appointment We’ll confirm or suggest alternative times within 24 hours via email. In order to confirm a session you must have an active account with a credit card on file — all sessions must be secured with a credit card. The 12-hour cancellation policy applies.

Grippy socks are required for all classes and sessions (available for purchase at Pilate-ology). Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing — but please avoid short shorts, zippers, or jewelry, as they can damage equipment. If damage occurs, you may be responsible for repair or replacement. Don’t forget your water bottle to stay hydrated!

We understand that life happens — but please remember that class reservations are made at your own risk. Our 12-hour online cancellation policy applies to all classes.

Parking can be limited, so allow extra time to arrive. We offer no reserved parking; you’ll find meters on Ventura Blvd. and free parking one block south on Valley Vista.

There’s a 5-minute grace period for all classes. After that, your spot may be given to someone on standby. Late arrivals beyond 5 minutes won’t be permitted for safety reasons and will be marked as no-shows.

If you’re new to our studio, recently joined through ClassPass, or haven’t attended in 90+ days, you’ll need to start with a Private Session before joining group classes. Your instructor will assess your readiness and guide you through safe modifications.

Regular clients who become pregnant can continue attending group classes but must schedule one private session per trimester to learn trimester-specific modifications. Please note that clients unaware of this policy will be unable to join class upon arrival, and the session will be forfeited.
